Project Objective:
Students will research various types of electronic communication technologies (e.g. optical fibre, satellite connection, mobile networks, etc.) and evaluate their suitability for providing reliable and affordable connectivity in rural areas.
Main Research Questions:
- Which technologies are currently available for establishing broadband connections in rural areas?
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of individual technologies in terms of:
- costs (installation and maintenance),
- technical capabilities (speed, stability, latency),
- coverage and accessibility,
- environmental impact.
- How are these technologies used in practice – examples of good practice from Slovenia, the EU and elsewhere?
- What combination of technologies would be most effective for a selected rural area?
Project Process:
Theoretical analysis: gathering information on individual technologies.
Comparative table: evaluation of technologies according to pre-defined criteria.
Analysis of good practice examples: at least two examples from different countries/regions.
Developing a recommendation: selection of the most suitable solution for a chosen area (which may be based on the students’ home area).
Presentation of results: short presentation and submission of a report (approx. 5 pages).
Final Output:
A written report and PowerPoint presentation with key findings and recommendations.
