As reported at the Digital Rural partner meeting in Poland, the Greek partners supported the Municipality of Sfakia in applying for LEADER funding to implement a local initiative inspired by Mobilni heroji (Mobile Heroes). The example we presented at the June online event<\/a>, organised by the University of Ljubljana, is thus already leading to tangible follow-up.<\/p>\n

The exchange of good practices was the central theme of the partner meeting, held on 20\u201321 October 2026 in Rzesz\u00f3w and the Podkarpackie region of Poland. The host, the Rzesz\u00f3w Regional Development Agency, presented examples combining digital technologies, local heritage and rural development.<\/p>\n

Among these is Foresterium in Zag\u00f3rz, where a former monastery has taken on a new role as a cultural and educational centre. Through digital content, it introduces visitors to the area\u2019s history and heritage. The FANTO Centre in Ustrzyki Dolne presents the history, culture and nature of the Bieszczady region through interactive and multimedia exhibitions. Participants were also introduced to the Astronomical Observatory in Tymce, housed in a former water tower. Alongside astronomy activities, it offers science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workshops for children, as well as workshops for teachers. All three examples illustrate how historic buildings, local heritage and knowledge can be combined with modern technologies to create new educational and tourism experiences.<\/p>\n

The University of Ljubljana contributed to a workshop on monitoring the impacts of policy improvements and developing action plans. The meeting thus connected learning about good practices with their integration into local development measures.
