On 18 and 19 January 2023, the first meeting of the SmartCommUnity project took place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The kick-off meeting was attended by 11 project partners, together with representatives from the Government Office for Digital Transformation, EUSALP Action Groups, the EUSALP Youth Council, the Joint Secretariat and the observers involved in the project.
The project “Creating a Functional Transnational Community Towards Smart Transition in the Alps” – the SmartCommUnity project, aims to support Alpine rural areas to fully benefit from digitalisation and create a functional transnational community in the Alps within EUSALP Action Group 5. The project is funded by the Interreg Alpine Space 2021-2027 programme for a period of three years.
The event served to discuss the main issues of interest and to define a roadmap for the implementation of the first project activities between partners from Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Germany, France and Switzerland. Digitalisation policy at Slovenian and EU level was also discussed and the Slovenian Minister for Digital Transformation, Emilija Stojmenova Duh, was present.
